Kolhapur / Sindhudurg, June 15 (UNI) Within a month of installation of a new statue of Chhatrapatii Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot fort in Malvan tehsil of Sindhudurg district, the pedestal on which the statue is installed crumbled on Sunday with a big hole in a wall.
However, there is no risk to 83-feet-tall statue of Chhatrapatii Shivaji Maharaj.
Nearly a month after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated new statue of Chhatrapatii Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot fort on May 11, a big hole in a wall of pedestal of the statue was found today as the land under the pedestal gave way due to poor quality of construction.
However, the statue of Chhatrapatii Shivaji Maharaj is firmly in place without any danger.
The district administration immediately took precautionary measures to contain damage.
Earlier also, a 40-feet-tall statue of Chhatrapatii Shivaji Maharaj, which was installed at the same place and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had collapsed in August 2024 due to poor construction.
