Maha: Delegation of Sambhaji Brigade meets family of deceased Vaishnavi Hagavane

Pune, May 29 (UNI) A delegation of Sambhaji Brigade, led by its president Manoj Akhre, on Thursday met the Kaspate family to express their support and console them following the untimely death of their daughter Vaishnavi Hagawane.
Akhre accused the Pune police of deliberately trying to save Rajendra Hagavane and his family in the Vaishnavi Hagavane suicide case and demanded for a stern action against those who allegedly mentally and physically harassed her for dowry.
He alleged that the elder daughter-in-law and victim Mayuri Hagavane (nee Jagtap) also did not get any help even after complaining to Pune police and State Women's Commission.
"If the SWC had taken prompt action at that time, Vaishnavi Hagavane would not have lost her life," he noted and held the SWC morally responsible for this.
He further alleged that the Pune police had also failed to take action against accused on time and demanded that the state government should seek an explanation from the Pune police over this.
Akher also raised strong objection to Rajendra Agawane's lawyer for having made slanderous remarks about Vaishnavi Hagawane's character in front of media when she is dead, which is a violation of the moral rights of a lawyer.
So, the Sambhaji Brigade is going to complain to the Maharashtra Goa Bar Association to cancel the licence of he concerned lawyer who represents the accused Hagavane family, he added.
