Maha: Drought intensifies in Nandurbar: Satpura’s largest Uday River runs dry in October

Nandurbar, Oct 18 (UNI) The severity of the drought in Nandurbar district is becoming increasingly evident, with the Uday river, one of the largest rivers in the Satpura region, reaching its lowest level and drying up in October itself.
The situation has raised concerns over a severe water shortage in the coming months, particularly for residents of the Satpura hills.
Nandurbar district has received only 49 per cent of its average rainfall this year, severely affecting water availability and groundwater levels. The state government has declared all six talukas of the district drought-affected.
The impact of the rainfall deficit is now visible in the region’s rivers and other water sources. The Uday river, which traditionally flows throughout the year, has reached its bedrock in October, raising fears that villages in the Satpura region may face an acute drinking water shortage in the coming months.
With drought conditions worsening and water levels declining, residents are concerned about how they will meet their daily water needs if the situation continues.
