Mumbai, Apr 29 (UNI) The investigation into the murder of a 24-year-old woman allegedly by her father in Jalgaon revealed that as his MBBS daughter had married a class XII pass-out, the accused took the extreme step of killing his daughter and injuring his son-in-law, police said on Tuesday.
On April 27, a retired sub-inspector of police from Central Reserve Police (CRP) allegedly shot at his daughter and son-in-law at Chopda in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra.
In this incident that occurred at 10 pm on Saturday during a family function, the daughter died on the spot, while the son-in-law was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
The accused father, who opened fire during the function, is in serious condition and on a ventilator after being beaten up by attendees.
According to information received, Kiran Mangle, a retired PSI shot his daughter Trupti and her husband Avinash Wagh during the 'haldi' (pre-wedding) function of one of his relatives which was attended by his daughter, son-in-law and other relatives.
Trupti Avinash Wagh (24) and Avinash Ishwar Wagh (28) from Kothrud, Pune, had a love marriage two years ago.
The girl's father, Karan Arjan Mangle (48) from Shirpur, did not approve of the marriage and was angry about it.
Police have registered an offence and investigation is going on, sources added.
