Maha: Fifth FIR filed as massive fake birth certificate racket exposed in Malegaon

Mumbai, June 10 (UNI) The Nashik Rural Police in Maharashtra have registered a fifth FIR (first information report) in ongoing Malegaon birth certificate scam after uncovering 1,044 forged birth certificates bearing fake Tehsildar signatures.
These certificates, issued under the Malegaon Municipal Corporation, involved delayed birth registrations with fabricated documents, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The complaint was lodged by Dr Jayashri Aaher, a Health officer at the Malegaon Municipal Corporation. Since June 2023, Abdul Razzaq, another Health officer, has been responsible for birth and death registrations in the Corporation. A committee formed in December 2024 is currently investigating the widespread issuance of fake birth certificates in the area.
