Maha: Husband booked for torturing his wife, demanding dowry

Kolhapur, June 5 (UNI) The Rural Police on Thursday registered a case against a man who allegedly tortured his pregnant wife for his demand of Rs 10 lakh as dowry at Varange Padli village in Karveer tehsil of the district.
According to Karveer police, Rohit Arjun Dudhane of Varange Padli village, who had a love marriage with the woman in May 2024, started torturing his pregnant wife within six months of their marriage for dowry. He even threatened her with dire consequences if she did not bring Rs 10 lakh as dowry from her father.
Finally, fed up of his torture, the victim today filed a complaint at the Karveer police, who registered a case of dowry against accused.
After he came to know about registration of the case, Rohit absconded.
Police have lodged a search for him, sources added.
