Maha: Panchanganga river overflowing in Kolhapur with continued heavy rainfall

Kolhapur, June 24 (UNI) With heavy rainfall recorded in all parts of Maharashtra's Kolhapur district, particularly in the western areas, the main Panchaganga river began overflowing today as water gushed out from its bed for the first time this season.
The water level of Rajaram bandhara was 30.07 feet at 4 pm.
With continued heavy rainfall over the last two days, the main Panchaganga river os overflowing for the first time in this year's rainy season. Total 34 bandharas including Rajaram, Survey, Rui, Ichalkaranji,Terwad, Shirol, Shignapur, were overflowing, leading to villages losing direct contact with tehsil places.
The level of other rivers including Bhogavati, Kumbhi, Kasari and Tulshi were also increasing rapidly.
While heavy rainfall was also recorded in all catchment areas of total 14 irrigation dams over the last three days, the highest rainfall recorded in Gaganbavda tehsil was 69.8 mm and in Ajara tehsil 6809 mm in last 24 hours till 8 am today. UNI SSS SSP
