Maha: Pharmacy student critically injured in knife attack on campus

Amravati, Sep 29 (UNI): A second-year D.Pharm student was critically injured after being allegedly attacked with a knife inside the premises of Prof. Ram Meghe College in Badnera area of Amravati, Maharashtra on Tuesday, police said.
According to police, the accused, identified as Naveen Vanvani , allegedly entered the college campus in the afternoon and suddenly attacked the student with a sharp weapon.
The victim sustained serious injuries in the assault and collapsed in a pool of blood, creating panic among students and staff.
Other students rushed to the spot immediately after the incident. The accused allegedly attempted to flee, but was caught by students.
Enraged students reportedly thrashed him before handing him over to the police.
Police have initiated action against the accused and launched an investigation into the motive behind the attack.
Authorities are probing whether the accused and the victim knew each other previously and the circumstances that led to the incident.
The victim was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where she is undergoing treatment and her condition is stated to be serious.
Police suspect that the attack may have stemmed from one-sided affection, though the exact motive is yet to be established.
The Badnera police later arrested the accused and seized the knife used in the attack.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case.
The incident comes weeks after another stabbing involving a college student in Amravati, once again bringing the issue of student safety and security measures in educational institutions into focus.
