Maha schools reopen with festive welcome; CM visits tribal school

Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) Schools across Maharashtra reopened on Monday after the summer vacation, except in Vidarbha, where the academic session will commence from June 23. The state government has declared the reopening a celebratory event, emphasizing its commitment to strengthening education.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the new academic year by visiting a tribal school in Palghar district, highlighting the government’s focus on inclusive education. Alongside him, members of Parliament, legislative assembly representatives, and senior officials are scheduled to visit government schools statewide to warmly welcome students back to classrooms.

This initiative aims to increase enrollment in government schools by informing parents and community members about the various facilities provided, including free uniforms, textbooks, mid-day meals, and other benefits. The government seeks to position government schools as reliable and affordable centers of quality education throughout the state.

The Education Department has prepared a list of 473 public representatives and 205 officials assigned to conduct school visits on the first day. These visitors have been equipped with brochures detailing the state’s education schemes, particularly those that benefit students in government institutions.

To ensure effective monitoring, cluster-level education officers have been granted access to school data at the taluka level to compile concise reports on each visit.

Senior secretaries and officials have been encouraged to engage with parents during the inauguration ceremonies. Principal secretary of the School Education Department, IA Kandan, urged government officers to actively support schools and contribute fully to improving the quality of education in government schools. He emphasized that these visits will help foster a positive attitude toward education among communities, parents, students, and teachers alike.
