Maha: Wife of former Customs official arrested for forgery

Mumbai, June 23 (UNI) In what seems to be a case arising out of family dispute, the Thane police have arrested the wife of a former Customs officer Mabood Khan on charges of alleged forgery to\\\\
execute transfer of a property, officials said here on Monday.
The Naupada police station of neighbouring Thane City police is conducting the investigations.
The properties in question are at Davla village in Thane district and Karjat in Raigad district - adjoining the financial capital of Mumbai.
The Naupada Police have arrested Firoza Mabood Khan in a case of forgery of a will, manufacturing and using bogus government stamp papers, manufacturing and forging seals and signatures of a Magistrate and the State Emblem and Satyameva Jayate inscribed on it.
According to the police and remand papers, the forged documents were used to facilitate the transfer of the properties.
The case was filed by Shahnaaz Maroof Khan at Naupada police station, wherein she had complained that her brother-in-law Mabood Khan and his wife Firoza Khan had forged the will of her deceased husband Maroof Khan and had forged bogus signatures of the Magistrate, doctor, lawyer and of her deceased husband.
Besides, they had forged the seals of the Magistrate and of the Government of Maharashtra and had used the same to transfer immovable property, being land worth crores of rupees, to his name.
Interestingly, the Bombay High Court had dismissed the probate petition filed by the accused, yet the transfer of the 7/12 extracts was effected by the Revenue authorities of Thane and Karjat talukas to the name of the accused.
The main accused Abdul Mabood Khan is the biological brother of the deceased Abdul Maroof Khan, who was earlier shot dead in Mumbai in mysterious circumstances.
