Mandeep set to return to Tripura for 2026-27 domestic season

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Former Punjab skipper Mandeep Singh is set to return to Tripura for the 2026-27 domestic season, a year after leaving the side following his first stint with the state.
The experienced batter had joined Tripura from Punjab in 2024-25 and was appointed captain, before moving on ahead of the next season.

Mandeep played six Ranji Trophy matches, six Vijay Hazare Trophy games and seven Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches for Tripura in 2024-25. He did not feature in domestic cricket
during the 2025-26 season.

His first stint with Tripura produced some useful numbers. Mandeep scored an unbeaten 124 in the Ranji Trophy and made five other half-centuries.
He added three fifties in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with a best of 94 against Bengal, and two more half-centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Mandeep had moved to Tripura after spending 15 seasons with Punjab. In his final season with Punjab, he captained the side to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, ending their 30-year wait for
a major domestic trophy.

Tripura have also brought in former batter and umpire Satrajit Lahiri as their new head coach.
Lahiri was part of the Deodhar Trophy-winning side in 1996-97 and is a BCCI Level C-qualified coach.
He also holds a Level 3 coaching qualification from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
