Martyr Lt Shashank Tiwari cremated with full state honours

Ayodhya (UP), May 24 (UNI) The mortal remains of martyr Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari, who made the supreme sacrifice in Sikkim, were consigned to flames with full state honours at a ghat in Ayodhya on Saturday.
Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari, who attained martyrdom while saving a fellow soldier in Sikkim, was a resident of village Gaddapur Manjhwa in Ayodhya. He was 22 years old when he attained martyrdom.
The mortal remains of Lieutenant Tiwari were brought from Siliguri's Bagh Dogra Airbase to Ayodhya by a special plane and kept in the military hospital overnight. His last rites were performed with state honours today at Ayodhya's Jamthara Ghat.
Martyr Lieutenant Tiwari will always be remembered for his indomitable courage and bravery. Army soldiers took the last salute. Senior officers of the district and local people were present on this occasion.
A large number of local people along with public representatives reached Shashank Tiwari's Gaddapur residence and expressed condolences. District in-charge minister Surya Pratap Shahi, District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Gaurav Grover, senior officials of Dogra Regiment Center, MLAs Ved Prakash Gupta, Ramchandra Yadav and Amit Singh Chauhan paid tribute to martyr Shashank Tiwari at his funeral.
