Meghalaya Cabinet reshuffle: Paul Lyngdoh gets Tourism; Shira takes Power portfolio

Shillong, Nov 4 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has reallocated his cabinet portfolios following the induction of veteran National People’s Party (NPP) legislator Paul Lyngdoh, an official said on Wednesday.
Lyngdoh was reinducted into the cabinet on Monday, just days after he and two former United Democratic Party (UDP) legislators merged with the NPP.
He has been allocated the Tourism, Social Welfare, and Arts and Culture portfolios—departments he had managed before being dropped from the cabinet in September 2025.
Chief Minister Sangma previously held the Social Welfare portfolio, while the Tourism department was steered by veteran NPP minister Timothy Dalbot Shira, and Arts and Culture was under the charge of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister Sanbor Shullai.
Shira, who retained Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, has been given additional charge of the Power and Water Resources departments. These portfolios were earlier held by UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh, who resigned as a cabinet minister on Saturday after 11 of his party's legislators defected to the BJP and the NPP.
Meanwhile, Shullai will continue to look after the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, Taxation, Legal Metrology, and Printing & Stationery departments.
