Mentally ill woman jumps into sea, saved by police in Mumbai

Mumbai, July 3 (UNI) A 53-year-old woman, said to be suffering from some mental disease, jumped into the sea at Bandra Bandstand in city suburb allegedly fearing that someone was chasing her. She was saved by a constable who was posted near the sea, said the police today.
Constable Sainath Devde, attached to the Bandra police station and present at the scene, witnessed the incident. He immediately dived into the water and rescued her, said the police in their X post.
The woman was semi-conscious when pulled out and was promptly admitted to the Bhabha Hospital for treatment, the police said. Her condition is currently stable, and her family has been informed, they added.
