Mia Goth to essay role of villain in 'Star Wars: Starfighter' opposite Ryan Gosling

Los Angeles, June 7 (UNI) Hollywood actress Mia Goth has officially joined 'Star Wars: Starfighter', taking on a central antagonist role opposite Ryan Gosling in director Shawn Levy's feature for Lucasfilm.
Production is scheduled to begin this autumn in the United Kingdom, with the film targeting a wide theatrical release on May 28, 2027.
While plot specifics remain under wraps, the story reportedly revolves around Gosling's character, who is tasked with protecting a young charge from sinister forces, with Goth portraying one of the key villains in pursuit, reports The Hollywood Reports.
Goth takes over a role that actress Mikey Madison was previously in talks for, but her deal reportedly fell through over payment issues.
The film is a stand-alone story that will be unconnected to the so-called Skywalker Saga, the stories centered on well-established and beloved characters Luke Skywalker and his father, Anakin. The events of 'Starfighter' take place approximately five years after the events of 2019’s 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker'.
“This is a stand-alone. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet,” Levy said at April’s Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
Goth earned accolades and gathered a fanbase thanks to starring in Ti West’s trilogy of horror movies that include X, Pearl, and MaXXXine. She played several roles in stories set in the 1910, 1970s, and 1980s.
She will next be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s 'Frankenstein', starring with Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, and has a mystery role in Christopher Nolan’s 'The Odyssey'.
