Minister inspects Delhi State Health Mission, directs officials to plug gaps in programme implementation

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh on Thursday inspected the Delhi State Health Mission (DSHM) office and reviewed the implementation of various public health programmes, including TB elimination, dialysis, maternal and child health, immunisation, mental health, non-communicable diseases and disease surveillance.
During the visit, Singh interacted with doctors, technicians, programme officers, and other staff and took stock of the functioning of different programmes and the requirements of healthcare personnel.
The Health Minister directed programme heads and senior officials to ensure close monitoring of implementation, timely resolution of operational gaps and effective coordination between field-level teams, healthcare institutions and senior officers.
“The Delhi State Health Mission is doing very good work for the people of Delhi. During my visit, I interacted with our doctors, technicians and other staff and enquired about their work and requirements. I have directed the concerned officials and programme heads to ensure that all programmes are being implemented properly and that any gaps are addressed without delay,” Singh said.
He stressed that healthcare personnel should receive the necessary facilities and support on time to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.
“Healthcare personnel must also receive the facilities and support they require to perform their duties effectively,” the minister said.
The DSHM oversees and coordinates several major health initiatives, including TB elimination, disease surveillance, maternal and child health, immunisation, adolescent health, family planning, anaemia control, vector-borne disease control, mental health, non-communicable diseases, dialysis, tobacco control, leprosy, blindness control and oral health.
Singh directed the programme officers concerned to maintain regular oversight of programme performance and ensure that implementation at the field level translates into timely and accessible healthcare services for citizens.
He also called for prompt resolution of issues affecting doctors, technicians and other frontline healthcare workers, while emphasising better coordination among programme heads and field teams.
The Health Minister reiterated the Delhi Government's commitment, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, to strengthening the health system, supporting healthcare personnel and improving delivery of public health services across the capital.
