Mizoram Police remembers 54 personnel killed in line of duty

Aizawl, Oct 21 (UNI) Mizoram Police on Wednesday paid tribute to its 54 personnel who have died in the line of duty since 1966, as the state joined the rest of the country in observing Police Commemoration Day.
The annual commemoration parade and wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Martyrs Memorial at the 1st Battalion Mizoram Armed Police (MAP) headquarters in Aizawl at 7 am. Director General of Police Sharad Agarwal, senior police officers and representatives of other security agencies paid homage to the fallen personnel.
The day also honoured 154 police personnel from across the country who laid down their lives in the line of duty between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026. Mizoram Police reported no casualties among its personnel during the same period.
Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 in memory of 10 personnel of the 3rd Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who were killed in an ambush by Chinese forces at Hot Springs in Ladakh on October 21, 1959.

Mizoram Police held commemorative parades at the state capital, district headquarters and battalion headquarters to honour police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the service of society and the security of the nation.
