Mizoram University enters 'Global 1,000' in THE world rankings

Aizawl, Oct 1 (UNI) Mizoram University has secured a place among the world’s top 1,000 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, entering the 801-1000 band, university faculty members said today.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma welcomed the ranking, describing it as a proud moment for Mizoram’s academic community and its growing presence on the international education map.

In a social media post, Lalduhoma congratulated the university’s vice-chancellor, faculty, researchers, non-teaching staff and students, saying the global ranking reflected the institution’s focus on research, innovation and holistic education.

He said the recognition should encourage the university to pursue higher academic goals and added that the Mizoram government would continue to support educational institutions in developing future leaders and innovators.

Mizoram University, a central university, was ranked 82nd among Indian universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025. It had been placed 76th in 2023 and 77th in 2024.

The university also ranked 25th among central universities in India in the 2025 Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF). It has continued to be recognised among the leading central universities in the Northeast.
