Mizoram University secures A+ grade in latest NAAC accreditation

Aizawl, July 1 (UNI) In a significant academic milestone, Mizoram University has been accredited with an A+ Grade and a CGPA of 3.30 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in its latest assessment cycle, marking a substantial leap from its previous Grade A with CGPA 3.16.
According to a press release from the University, the NAAC peer review team—comprising seven eminent academicians—conducted the evaluation from June 3 to 5 through a blended mode
involving both on-site and virtual assessments.
The University administration described the upgraded grade as a validation of its ongoing efforts to enhance academic standards and institutional development.
“This achievement is particularly meaningful as Mizoram University celebrates its Silver Jubilee. Despite geographical constraints and our distance from mainland India, we’ve demonstrated our capability to meet and exceed national benchmarks,” remarked Vice Chancellor Prof. Dibakar Chandra Deka.
The Vice Chancellor further noted that while the institution recognises the vast scope for growth—“the sky is the limit”—this A+ rating affirms the University’s determined pursuit of quality in all aspects of higher education.
The NAAC, an autonomous institution under the University Grants Commission (UGC), evaluates universities and colleges in India on parameters such as curriculum design, teaching-learning methodologies, research output, infrastructure quality, governance, and support services for students.
The recognition, coming in the University’s 24th year, is seen as a strong endorsement of Mizoram University’s efforts to become a centre of excellence in the North-East. The statement underlined the University's achievements in fostering a research-driven culture, modernising its infrastructure, and expanding student welfare initiatives.
The institution also expressed gratitude to its faculty, students, and administrative staff, stating that the achievement reflects collective dedication and a shared vision for academic excellence.
