MoD organises blood donation camp on National Voluntary Blood Donation Day

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) The Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Armed Forces Transfusion Centre, organised a voluntary blood donation camp at Kartavya Bhavan-2 here on Thursday on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day. The theme of this year’s campaign was “One drop of Humanity, Give Blood, Save Lives.”
The blood donation drive was conducted under the supervision of a dedicated medical team comprising two Medical Officers, two Junior Commissioned Officers and 10 paramedical staff, including Blood Transfusion Assistants. Necessary medical equipment and facilities were made available at the camp.
A total of 134 officers and officials of the Ministry of Defence participated in the blood donation drive. Before donating blood, all participants underwent counselling and health screening to ensure their safety and compliance with prescribed medical standards.
Chief of Defence Staff and Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, General N S Raja Subramani, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare Sukriti Likhi, besides senior officers and officials of the Ministry of Defence, participated in the camp and donated blood.
The initiative highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and sought to encourage greater participation in efforts aimed at saving lives and ensuring the availability of safe blood for patients in need.
The camp reaffirmed the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation and supporting the availability of safe blood for medical emergencies and patients requiring transfusion.
