Modi govt's decision on Agniveers historic, youth-friendly: Kangra MLA Pawan Kajal

Dharamshala, Nov 6 (UNI) State BJP Vice-President and Kangra MLA Pawan Kajal has termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reported decision to extend the tenure of Agniveers from four to six years, followed by permanent postings, as historic and youth-friendly.
Addressing a public meeting at Bhadiyara village in Kangra Assembly constituency, Kajal said the decision would encourage more youth to join the armed forces and was a Diwali gift to aspiring youngsters.
He said the Centre had also provided relief to villagers living within a 20-km radius of toll plazas in Himachal Pradesh by introducing annual passes costing Rs 1,500. Residents could now make unlimited trips through the Ghatta toll plaza by paying a daily charge of Rs 4, he added.
Kajal said issues relating to underpasses and foot overbridges affecting residents of Takipur, Daulatpur, Scott and Tarsuh along the Kachhayari-Bhangwar four-lane project were also being taken up on priority.
Criticising the state government, he alleged that adequate healthcare facilities were not available in government hospitals and that Tanda Medical College had effectively become a referral hospital.
Urging village youth to stay away from drugs, Kajal encouraged them to pursue their goals and showcase their talent through sports. He also donated Rs 11,000 to the youth club.
Sarvanath Baba Mandir Club president Ayush said 16 teams participated in the tournament. In the final, Dharamshala Youth Star defeated Five Star Club Shahpur to lift the trophy.
