Motorhead legend Lemmy Kilmister set to be honoured with a music hall in his home town

London, June 5 (UNI) Metal icon Lemmy Kilmister, best known as the frontman of the legendary English heavy/speed metal band Motorhead, is likely to be posthumously honoured in his hometown of Burslem, in the area of Staffordshire, with a music venue dedicated to his memory.
After having erected a statue of the global icon last month, modelled after his classic pose from the band’s song ‘Ace of Spades’, featuring him in front of a microphone while rocking out his bass, there are plans to reportedly install a music hall in his honour.
The planned venue will be an 800-capacity live music club called ‘Kilmister Halls’ in Burslem, Stoke-On-Trent, and has been gathering a lot of local support. The space would also include a cafe and a museum, and it would replace the currently vacant building Queen’s Theatre on Wedgwood Street, reports Louder Sound.

In an interview with BBC Radio Stoke, local artist Andy Edwards, who created the Lemmy statue, says the proposed venue could draw more touring musicians to the city.
“We’ve got a big musical heritage in this city and we used to attract the best bands,” he explained. “That’s drifted away and this (new venue) would make a huge difference in getting that back again.”
Edwards also says that there have been meetings between IFK Legacy and Stoke-On-Trent City Council, who own Queen’s Theatre, and that discussions have been “really positive”.
A hero of the area and a global legend, Lemmy, born Ian Fraser Kilmster in 1945, was the founder and leading figure of Motorhead, which is today regarded as one of the biggest pioneers of the heavy metal scene.
The band has inspired numerous notable metal and rock acts like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Pantera, Nirvana, Guns N Roses, Venom, Slayer, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Creed, Mayhem, Alter Bridge, Slipknot, Linkin Park etc.
The band was known for their fashion style, hard edged rockstar image, raw sound, and fast paced playing. The style, which was pioneered by Lemmy was a clever mix of punk rock, 50’s and 60’s rock n roll, and heavy metal, which proved to be iconic.
While Lemmy passed away at the age of 70 due to cancer in 2015, he left behind a legacy that continues to endure and inspire millions across the world.
