MP High Court Judge pledges body donation and 1 crore to PM Relief Fund

Bhopal, Sep 18 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh High Court Judge Avnindra Kumar Singh, who retired on 17 September, has pledged to donate his and his wife's bodies after death for medical purposes, as well as to provide Rs one crore one lakh from his General Provident Fund (GPF) to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
Justice Singh made the announcements at a full-court farewell granted to him at the MP High Court in Jabalpur.
Addressing the farewell, MP High Court Chief Justice Alpesh Yashwant Kogje said that Justice Singh performed every responsibility entrusted to him exceptionally well. During his nearly three-year tenure as a High Court judge, Justice Singh disposed of 8,788 cases.
The Chief Justice noted that Justice Singh's performance should be assessed not only on the basis of numbers but also on the quality of his judgments.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Avnindra Kumar Singh fondly remembered his uncle and aunt, the eminent late IAS couple of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Mahesh Neelkanth Buch and Nirmala Buch, who served as the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh.
Justice Singh said that his mother died when he was six months old. Along with his father, his maternal aunt, the late Nirmala Buch, and his maternal uncle, the late Mahesh Neelkanth Buch, raised him as their son.
"My wife Indira wanted us to do something for society after retirement. Respecting this sentiment, we have taken the pledge to donate our bodies. Also, as soon as the amount from the GPF is credited to my bank account, I will transfer it to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund", Justice Singh said.
