MPSC overhaul: UPSC-style fixed calendars, DigiLocker integration, time-bound appointments proposed

Mumbai, Sep 29 (UNI) Striking at the systemic delays and administrative opacity that have plagued generations of aspirants, a high-level state reform committee led by senior IAS officer V Radha has proposed a revolutionary overhaul of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) and state recruitment framework, anchored by a predictable, UPSC-style examination calendar and strict appointment timelines.
Breaking her silence during a comprehensive press briefing on Tuesday alongside panel members, Ms Radha detailed a blueprint designed to sweep away bureaucratic red tape, eliminate repetitive paperwork, and enforce rigorous standards across all state-level recruitment boards.

Mirroring national models where preliminary dates are locked months in advance, the committee proposes ironclad schedules for MPSC exam dates, result declarations, and final postings.
Rejecting years of post-selection delays, the panel recommends a mandatory three-to-four-month window for issuing appointment letters, contingent on departments submitting timely vacancy indents.

To eradicate administrative friction and prevent age-tampering or fake credentials, the state plans to launch a centralized One-Time Registration (OTR) database linked directly to DigiLocker.

High-standard verification protocols for question quality and answer-sheet evaluation will be implemented, alongside a dedicated online grievance redressal mechanism and a clear Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for "opting out" to secure waitlisted candidates.
"We are examining every facet—from descriptive versus objective patterns to student representations from Mumbai, Pune, and beyond," Ms Radha noted, disclosing that the committee has already collated feedback from roughly 2,000 students.
