Mudiraj BC-A demand to be discussed in cabinet: Telangana CM Reddy

Hyderabad, Oct 22 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday assured the Mudiraj community that the government would discuss its demand for inclusion in the BC-A category at the next Cabinet meeting.
Addressing the birth anniversary celebrations of Panduga Sayanna Mudiraj at Ravindra Bharati, he said the government would constitute a Cabinet sub-committee to study the issue, adding that a lack of adequate data had earlier prevented the community's shift from BC-D to BC-A.
The Chief Minister said caste census records would be corrected if communities submitted details establishing discrepancies in their population figures. He described the census as an important step towards social justice and said ensuring the Mudiraj community's participation in the government was his responsibility.
He also suggested that Minister Ponnam Prabhakar take up the proposal for an MLC ticket for the community with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud.
Revanth Reddy recalled Panduga Sayanna's struggle against feudal landlords during the Nizam's rule and his support for poor families through grain distribution and financial assistance for marriages. He announced that statues of Panduga Sayanna and Doddi Komuraiah would be installed on Tank Bund to honour their contributions.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government's initiatives, including SC categorisation, the BC caste census, fine-quality rice distribution to 3.48 crore people and Indiramma housing. He also cited political opportunities provided to Mudiraj leaders Srihari Mudiraj and Neelam Madhu, and called for greater recognition of social reformers and people's leaders.
