NAARM’s a-IDEA launches Agri Udaan7.0 in Bengaluru

Hyderabad, June 27 (UNI) India’s leading agri-startup accelerator initiative, AGRI UDAAN 7.0, was officially launched in Bengaluru by a-IDEA, the business incubator of ICAR-NAARM, with the goal of empowering agritech startups and strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
The event witnessed a convergence of innovation, institutional support, and entrepreneurial energy, highlighting the crucial role of startups and farmers in shaping the future of Indian agriculture, according to a National Academy of Agriculture Research Management (NAARM), statement here on Friday.
Dr Ashok Dalwai, chairman of the Karnataka Agriculture Price Commission and chief guest at the event, underscored the importance of market-aligned, scalable agri-innovations. He called for policy integration to mainstream agri-startups into the national agricultural economy as part of the vision for Viksit Bharat. He further emphasized adaptive technology development across agriculture, livestock, and services to boost productivity and rural employment.
In his presidential address, Dr Dheer Singh, director of ICAR-NDRI, Karnal, stressed the synergy between scientific research and entrepreneurship. He encouraged youth to convert agricultural research into viable business models, stating,
In his keynote address, Ashutosh Kumar, general manager at NABARD, applauded AGRI UDAAN as a bridge between grassroots innovation and strategic investment. He reaffirmed NABARD’s commitment to fostering rural entrepreneurship and urged young agri-founders to create sustainable, farmer-centric solutions that contribute to building a "new India."
Dr Artabandhu Sahoo, director of ICAR-NIANP, highlighted the need to translate ICAR-developed technologies into practical field-level applications through startups. He called for institutional collaboration in innovation development and testing, urging alignment with environmental sustainability.
