Chennai, June 27 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna conducted
a window trailing inspection in Chennai – Arakkonam - Kanchipuram section today.
During the inspections, he reviewed the critical operational and safety aspects.
The Minister's two-day visit to Chennai concluded today, a Railway release said.
Vishwanath B. Eerya, Divisional Railway Manager/Chennai, A. Ilampooranan, Chief Project Manager/ Gati Sakti and other senior railway officials accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
On arrival at Kancheepuram station, the Minister inspected the station and took stock of the passenger amenities available.
Local public gave a representation for a long pending demand for a Limited Use Subway in lieu of
a Level Crossing in the area.
The Minister directed the officials that the feasibility of constructing a Limited Use Subway should
be studied at the earliest.
Later, the Minister visited Vivekanand Matriculation Higher Secondary School, where he took part
in a series of events, including the ‘Wisdom-Whiz Workshop’ and the felicitation of meritorious students.
Yesterday, the Minister visited the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai and conducted inspection at
the workshop.
