Bhubaneswar, Oct 22 (UNI) Strengthening preventive vigilance mechanisms and embedding ethical practices in public institutions are crucial to building public trust and reinforcing institutional credibility, emerged as the key message at a Chief Vigilance Officers’ (CVOs’) Meet hosted by National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
The meet, organised as part of the ongoing three-month-long Preventive Vigilance Campaign, brought together vigilance professionals from the Ministry of Mines, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), leading Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and government organisations to share best practices and explore ways to improve transparency and accountability.
Inaugurating the programme, NALCO Chairman-cum-Managing Director Brijendra Pratap Singh was joined by Director (P&T) Jagdish Arora, Director (HR) Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, Director (Finance) Abhay Kumar Behuria and Chief Vigilance Officer Pranabjyoti Nath.
The dignitaries underscored that a strong vigilance culture is essential for ensuring ethical governance, enhancing institutional credibility and strengthening public confidence in public service.
Technical sessions and panel discussions examined vigilance clearance, identification of sensitive posts, complaint-handling policy, and the scope and boundaries of vigilance. Experts deliberated on emerging challenges and exchanged professional insights to strengthen vigilance systems and promote ethical conduct.
Officials from the Ministry of Mines and the CVC, along with CVOs of public sector enterprises such as GAIL, BHEL, MCL, BEL, HCL and SECL, senior NALCO executives and vigilance functionaries from various sectors, attended the meet.
The deliberations reaffirmed the need for coordinated efforts, institutional learning and robust preventive practices to uphold transparency, accountability and integrity across public sector organisations.UNI MK AAB
