NCMEI announces launch of digital platform for minority institute

Mumbai, July 3 (UNI) The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions today announced the launch of a new digital platform where educational institutions run by minority groups will be registered.
The announcement was made by Shahid Akhtar, officiating chairman of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions at a workshop held in Mumbai .
Speaking on the occasion of the workshop titled "Empowering Minority Education: Minorities Rights under Article 30' Akhtar said that Article 30 of the Indian Constitution grants religious and linguistic minorities the right to establish and administer educational institutions of their choice. This right is a fundamental right, ensuring minorities can preserve and develop their culture through education.
The workshop, which was attended by representatives from the Commission, Maharashtra government officials, and representatives from 400 minority-run institutions, was held at Anjuman Islam Mumbai.
The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) Act has been enacted to safeguard the educational rights of the minorities enshrined in Article 30(1) of the Constitution.
The Commission is a quasi-judicial body and has been endowed with the powers of a Civil Court for the purpose of discharging its functions under the Act. The commission has three main roles namely adjudicatory, advisory and recommendatory. UNI AAA SSP
