AP received Rs 22.6 lakh crore investments through 714 projects since June 2024: Dy CM Pawan Kalyan

Kakinada, Oct 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh has attracted investments worth Rs 22.6 lakh crore through 714 projects since June 2024, with the government granting permissions for projects worth Rs 16.6 lakh crore and Rs 4.7 lakh crore worth of projects reaching the implementation stage, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said on Monday.
Addressing a regional conference of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada, he invited industrialists to invest in the State, describing Andhra Pradesh as an attractive destination for businesses and assuring them of government support through timely approvals and incentives.
The investments were expected to generate 7.1 lakh jobs, he said, urging industry representatives to contribute to the State’s economic growth by creating employment opportunities for youth and adopting environmentally responsible industrial practices.
Referring to Kakinada’s emerging industrial potential, Pawan Kalyan said investments worth Rs 6,347 crore were opening up new opportunities for the region.
He cited 16 memoranda of understanding involving Rs 4,652 crore and the laying of foundation stones for four projects involving Rs 2,090 crore.
The projects were expected to generate employment for around 18,000 people in Kakinada and neighbouring areas, providing livelihood opportunities for local communities, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the State Government was committed to extending necessary assistance to investors and expediting permissions and incentives.
He urged industrialists to reciprocate by creating quality jobs, operating in an environmentally sustainable manner and undertaking community development initiatives through corporate social responsibility programmes.
He said Kakinada had the potential to emerge as a major industrial hub, with opportunities in maritime infrastructure, shipbuilding, green hydrogen, chemicals, food processing and aquaculture-related industries.
Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s 1,053-km coastline, he called on industries to support coastal conservation through plantation drives and the proposed ‘Great Green Wall’ initiative.
Pawan Kalyan said clarity in policy, unity and a strong sense of national commitment were essential for economic progress, citing Singapore as an example of development driven by focused planning.
He added that the coalition government, under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and with the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was working to create a business-friendly environment and accelerate industrial development.
State Ministers T.G. Bharat, B.C. Janardhan Reddy and Kandula Durgesh, MPs Thangella Uday Srinivas, Harish Madhur and Sana Sathish Babu, and CII Andhra Pradesh Vice-Chairman Sambasiva Rao were among those who attended the conference.
