DHL Express announces 8.9pc hike in shipment charges from Jan 2027

Mumbai, Sep 27 (UNI) Global logistics major DHL Express officially announced here on Saturday that it will increase its shipment charges in India by 8.9 per cent, from January 1, 2027, as part of its annual price revision.
DHL Express, which operates in more than 220 countries and territories worldwide, stated that its costs are shaped by conditions in individual markets as well as changes across its international network.
DHL Express South Asia Senior Vice President RS Subramanian said that the annual adjustment would help the company maintain the service and reliability which customers expect, while also strengthening its global operations.
Businesses which regularly use international express shipping would need to account for the revised rates in their logistics budgets, according to the company statement.
However, the company has not provided a shipment-by-shipment breakdown in its announcement, and hence the amount paid by individual customers will vary, depending on the applicable service and rate.
The global logistics major stated that the adjustment reflects higher operating costs linked to inflation, currency movements and developments specific to the express delivery industry. The revised rates will affect customers sending shipments through DHL Express in India.
Apart from increasing inflation and foreign exchange rates, DHL also pointed to energy expenses and rising administrative costs as reasons behind the price revision.
Fresh customs procedures, security measures and regulatory requirements have also added to the cost of moving shipments across borders, while labour market pressures in several countries have pushed operating expenses higher, according to the company statement.
DHL also stated that it plans to continue investing in strengthening its international network, digital tools, security infrastructure and sustainable logistics services. These investments are intended to support businesses as international trade and supply chains become more complex.
