IndiGo raises charges on excess baggage, infant tickets and priority services

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Domestic airline IndiGo has revised charges for several optional and special services, increasing the cost of add-ons such as excess baggage, infant tickets, unaccompanied minor services and priority facilities for passengers.
Under the revised fee structure, passengers exceeding their permitted baggage allowance will now be charged Rs 800 per additional kilogram.
The charge was earlier Rs 700 per kg, making excess baggage costlier for travellers carrying luggage beyond the prescribed limit.
IndiGo has also increased charges for infants travelling on its flights. For children aged between three days and two years, the fee for booking an infant ticket in advance has been raised to Rs 2,250-2,000.
Passengers booking an infant ticket at the airport counter will now have to pay Rs 3,000, compared with Rs 2,500 earlier.
Infants are not allotted a separate seat and continue to travel with an accompanying adult. However, a valid ticket is mandatory for them.
The airline has also revised charges for its unaccompanied minor service. For domestic journeys, the service fee for children aged five to 12 years has been increased to Rs 5,999 from Rs 5,000.
For international flights, the unaccompanied minor service will now cost Rs 12,999.
Passengers seeking faster airport processing will also have to pay more. IndiGo's Fast Forward service, which includes priority check-in and boarding, will now cost Rs 650, compared with Rs 500 earlier.
The charge for the service on international flights has been set at Rs 850 per sector.
In another revision, the cost of obtaining a travel certificate from the airline has been increased to Rs 300 from Rs 200.
The revised fees are applicable to the respective optional services and are over and above the airline's basic ticket fare and the baggage allowance included with the ticket.
For passengers, the changes mean that the final cost of travel could increase further depending on the additional services they choose or requirements such as excess baggage, travelling with an infant or a child flying without an accompanying adult. UNI VK SAS
