Hyd: APHMEL posts record Rs 23.33 cr profit, cumulative profits reach Rs 60.85 cr

Hyderabad, Sept 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery and Engineering Limited (APHMEL), a subsidiary of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), has recorded its highest-ever net profit of Rs 23.33 crore in 2025-26, marking a turnaround for the company that had once faced closure with accumulated losses of about Rs 21 crore.
The company has posted profits for three consecutive years, earning Rs 1.05 crore in 2023-24, Rs 9.87 crore in 2024-25 and Rs 23.33 crore in 2025-26.
Its cumulative profits since coming under Singareni's control have now reached Rs 60.85 crore, the company said in a release on Monday.
APHMEL, established in 1976 at Kondapalli near Vijayawada, had been referred to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) in 1992 amid mounting losses and was facing closure proceedings.
Singareni initially supported the company by placing orders for machinery and spare parts and subsequently invested Rs 14.08 crore to become its principal stakeholder with an 81.54 per cent shareholding.
The company has since expanded its customer base beyond Singareni and is supplying machinery and components to major organisations including BHEL, GENCO, NMDC and RINL.
Officials attributed the improvement in APHMEL's financial performance to securing new orders, product diversification, cost-control measures and productivity improvements under Singareni's management.
The company is also taking steps to reduce its power costs by setting up a 300-kW solar power plant at its premises.
The plant is expected to generate about 1,200 kWh of electricity a day and save around Rs 2 lakh a month in power expenditure.
The solar plant involves an investment of about Rs 1.24 crore, which is expected to be recovered in around five years through savings in electricity costs.
APHMEL is now seeking to expand its operations and develop into a national-level heavy engineering enterprise, the officials added.
