Hyd: byteXL raises USD 9 million in funding round led by Elevar Equity

Hyderabad, Oct 7 (UNI) Edtech company byteXL on Wednesday said it has raised USD 9 million in its latest funding round led by Elevar Equity, with participation from existing investors Kalaari Capital and The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, to expand its technology and AI skilling programmes across engineering colleges in India.
In a release, the Hyderabad based company said the investment would support expansion of its institutional footprint, technology and AI-led learning platform, academic and delivery capabilities and industry-aligned skilling programmes.
Founded by brothers Karun and Sricharan Tadepalli, byteXL works with engineering colleges, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, to integrate industry-relevant technology and AI learning with the regular academic curriculum.
The company's hybrid B2B model combines industry-aligned curriculum, hands-on learning, technology platforms and trained educators within the existing college system.
Last year, 7,600 byteXL graduates were placed in IT and engineering roles, the company said.
The company currently reaches around two lakh students and plans to expand its reach to five lakh students across 15 States over the next two years.
Its institutional footprint is expected to increase from 40 to 120 institutions during the period.
Elevar Equity Founder and Managing Partner Sandeep Farias said byteXL's institutional integration and potential to build a scalable platform for technology talent in non-metro India were key factors behind the investment.
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation Head of University Success, India, Gaurav Jain, said byteXL's work with engineering colleges in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities would help students from underserved communities gain industry-aligned technology and AI skills.
Kalaari Capital Partner Sampath P said the latest investment reflected the firm's confidence in byteXL's team, business model and proprietary technology platform, which enables industry-relevant technology education to be integrated into the four-year engineering journey.
byteXL Co-Founder and CEO Karun Tadepalli said the fundraise would help the company expand its institutional footprint, deepen its technology and AI capabilities and strengthen its position in India's technology education ecosystem.
The company said a significant portion of the investment would go towards market expansion and product and technology development, including AI-enabled learning and assessment, student analytics, personalised learning tools and other digital capabilities.
The latest funding follows byteXL's USD 5.9 million Series A round in July 2024, also led by Kalaari Capital with participation from the Dell Foundation. LoEstro Advisors acted as the financial advisor for the latest round.
