Amazon India Opens Ashray Centre in Hyderabad in Partnership with Telangana Govt

Hyderabad, Sept 28 (UNI) Amazon India on Monday inaugurated an Ashray rest centre for delivery drivers in Kondapur, Hyderabad, in partnership with the Telangana government, marking the first operational facility under an agreement to establish five such centres across the city.
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner G. Srijana, Zonal Commissioner Amit Narayan, Amazon Director of Public Policy Brian Kenner and Amazon India Director Shadab Anwar.
The initiative follows a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year between Amazon India and the Telangana government.
Under the agreement, five Ashray centres will be established in high-footfall areas, including Kondapur, Bharathinagar and Patancheru, the e-commerce said in a release.
The remaining four centres are expected to become operational by the end of this year.
The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation supported the initiative by identifying suitable locations, facilitating approvals and providing administrative coordination.
Ashray centres provide delivery drivers with air-conditioned seating, drinking water, electrolytes, mobile charging points, clean washrooms, first-aid kits and resting facilities, enabling them to take breaks during their delivery routes.
G. Srijana said the initiative addressed the practical needs of delivery drivers, who spend much of their working day on the road.
Dedicated facilities to rest and recharge could improve their everyday working experience, she added.
Salim Memon, Director of Operations at Amazon India, said the partnership with the Telangana government marked an important milestone in expanding the Ashray network and supporting the well-being of last-mile delivery personnel.
With the new facility, Amazon operates 10 Ashray centres in Hyderabad. Nationally, the company has more than 150 such centres across 17 cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.
The initiative forms part of Amazon's efforts to strengthen support infrastructure for delivery drivers across India's e-commerce and logistics sector.
