Maruti Suzuki to establish 12 automated driving test tracks in Telangana

Hyderabad, Nov 5 (UNI): Maruti Suzuki India Limited will establish 12 Automated Driving Licence Test Tracks (ADTTs) at six locations in Telangana in collaboration with the state Transport Department to improve road safety and ensure transparency in the driving licence testing process.
The company has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Transport Department for setting up the facilities at Ibrahimpatnam and Kondapur in Ranga Reddy district, Uppal, Medchal and Nagole in Medchal district, and Karimnagar.
The automated tracks will facilitate driving tests for two-wheelers, light motor vehicles and heavy motor vehicles, the company said in a release on Thursday.
Equipped with high-definition cameras, RFID sensors, real-time analytics and integrated IT systems, the facilities will conduct computerised tests in accordance with the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR).
The automated evaluation system is designed to ensure objective assessment of applicants and eliminate human bias and errors in the testing process, the company said.
Transport Commissioner K Ilambarithi said the initiative would make driving tests more transparent and efficient and ensure that only competent applicants were issued driving licences.
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the automated tracks would promote fairness in the licensing process and encourage disciplined driving practices.
With the addition of the 12 facilities in Telangana, Maruti Suzuki's network of automated driving test tracks would cover 98 locations across nine states and two union Territories.
The company has also established eight Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research and 19 Road Safety Knowledge Centres in collaboration with state governments.
More than 5.5 million people have been trained and evaluated at these facilities up to FY 2025-26, the release added.
