DFCCIL launches its longest rail flyover girder at Kalamboli

Mumbai, May 12 (UNI) In a major boost to India’s freight infrastructure, the Dedicated Freight Corridor
Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has successfully launched a monumental Open Web Steel Girder measuring 110.5 metres in length and weighing approximately 1,500 tonnes at Kalamboli, in the JNPT–NILJE section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).
This Rail Flyover (RFO) stands as the longest of its kind constructed by DFCCIL to date, marking a significant engineering accomplishment.
The launch involved the radial shifting of the massive girder by 34 metres over existing Indian Railways tracks, a task that required intricate planning and the deployment of advanced construction technologies, said a release of Central Railways here on Monday.

Retail inflation drops to 6-year low in April

New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) India’s retail inflation eased to a nearly six-year low of 3.16 per cent in April, driven by a sharp decline in food prices, particularly vegetables, pulses and meat. According to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Monday, food inflation dropped to 1.78 per cent, the lowest since October 2021, from 2.69 per cent in March — a sharp decline of 91 basis points.
