Lupin's Atharv Ability launches neuro-rehabilitation centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Sept 15 (UNI: Atharv Ability, an initiative of pharmaceutical company Lupin, has launched a neuro-rehabilitation centre in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, marking its entry into South India.
The centre is aimed at providing comprehensive rehabilitation services for people with neurological and developmental conditions and builds on the clinical model developed by Atharv Ability in Mumbai, the pharma company said in a release on Tuesday.
The facility brings together multidisciplinary clinical care and rehabilitation technologies to support patients in improving functional outcomes, regaining independence and enhancing their quality of life.
The centre provides rehabilitation services for patients across age groups and stages of recovery, including those affected by stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and developmental delays.
The Hyderabad facility has robotic-assisted gait training systems, robotic hand rehabilitation technologies, aquatic therapy facilities, advanced neuro-gym infrastructure and a dedicated paediatric rehabilitation wing.
Atharv Ability said the centre follows a multidisciplinary approach, with different therapeutic specialties working together to develop rehabilitation plans based on individual patient needs.
The facility operates as an outpatient rehabilitation centre, allowing patients to receive multiple rehabilitation services without prolonged hospital stays, the organisation said.
According to the World Health Organization, neurological conditions affect more than three billion people globally and are the leading cause of ill health and disability.
Stroke is among the major contributors to the global neurological disease burden.
India accounts for nearly 10 per cent of the global stroke burden, with more than 1.25 million new stroke cases reported in 2021, according to the organisation.
Atharv Ability said factors including increasing life expectancy, hypertension, diabetes, sedentary lifestyles, delayed treatment-seeking and limited awareness of rehabilitation services have increased the need for structured neurological rehabilitation.
The initiative has been conceptualised and operationalised by Sumita Mohapatro Pani, Senior Vice President, Lupin.
The Hyderabad centre is headed by Dr Vijay Battina (PT), Center Head and Clinical Director, Atharv Ability Hyderabad.
The initiative is part of Lupin's 'Beyond the Pill' approach, which focuses on extending healthcare support beyond medicines to rehabilitation, patient education and long-term care.
