Jharkhand minister warns contractors, officials over delays in water projects across four districts

Hazaribagh, Oct 30 (UNI) Jharkhand Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Yogendra Prasad on Friday warned contractors and officials of action over delays and operational lapses in drinking water projects across Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Chatra and Koderma districts.
During a high-level review of Jal Jeevan Mission projects at the Hazaribagh Collectorate, the minister expressed displeasure over delays in implementation and the non-functional status of some schemes.
He directed the concerned authorities to accelerate work and ensure that water treatment plants and related infrastructure become operational.
Prasad said negligence in projects directly linked to people's basic drinking water needs would not be tolerated and that accountability would be fixed for delays at both the contractor and official levels.
Departmental Secretary Abu Imran directed officials to issue legal notices to contractors who had failed to complete projects within the stipulated time or had stopped work. Further action would be taken in accordance with contractual conditions and applicable rules, he said.
The review covered single-village schemes, raw water and clean water rising systems, water treatment plants and other drinking water infrastructure.
The minister instructed district administrations to regularly monitor the progress of projects. A fresh review meeting will be held after three months to assess compliance with Friday's directions.
Campaign Director Shashi Ranjan also asked officials to identify bottlenecks and ensure time-bound completion of pending schemes.
