CM reviews progress of new medical college in Tripura

Agartala, Oct 9 (UNI) Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha highlighted the need for infrastructure and advanced healthcare services for the proposed medical college at Jolaibari in South Tripura under PMJVK.
A meeting was held at the State Secretariat today to discuss the medical college planned near Shantirbazar District Hospital.
The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare and submit the Detailed Project Report (DPR) quickly and start work soon.
Chief Minister's Secretary Kiran Gitte presented a visual report on the proposed college's plan, infrastructure needs, and the status of Shantirbazar District Hospital.
After reviewing, the Chief Minister discussed various components and provided directions to officials.
Dr Saha stated the medical college should help develop Jolaibari into a well-planned township.
He mentioned the initiative should include creating facilities for a conducive academic environment and overall student growth.
He suggested incorporating a yoga center, auditorium, football ground, and indoor badminton hall into the infrastructure while ensuring amenities for students, doctors, and staff.
The Chief Minister stressed that the proposed institution's infrastructure must be modern, functional, and scientifically planned.
He indicated that equal attention should be given to academic standards, medical service quality, hospital infrastructure, and patient facilities.
The meeting discussed expanding healthcare services at Shantirbazar District Hospital.
The Chief Minister emphasized coordinating the hospital's infrastructure and medical service development with the medical college plan. He urged concerned departments to expedite preparing and submitting the DPR for implementation.
