Odisha: Cong agitation turns violent in Bhubaneswar; Police resort to lathicharge, teargas shells

Bhubaneswar, Mar 27 (UNI) Police resorted to lathicharge, burst teargas shells and sprayed water to disperse violent Congress activists, who broke barricades while marching toward the Odisha Assembly in protest against the rising crimes against women.
Mahatma Gandhi Marg, the venue of the Congress demonstration, virtually turned into a battleground as Congress activists pelted stones and threw chairs at the police in their attempt to proceed to the State Assembly.
Several Congress activists and police personnel were injured in the clash.
