Sand artists Sudarsan Pattnaik, Manas Sahoo salute Captain Smit Machchhar through artworks

Bhubaneswar, Oct 1 (UNI) Internationally acclaimed sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik on Thursday paid tribute to Captain Smit Machchhar by creating a sand sculpture at Puri Beach, saluting the Indian pilot for his courage during the recent incident aboard a flydubai flight.
The sculpture carries the message, “Salute to Captain Smit Machchhar – Get Well Soon.”
Through the artwork, Pattnaik prayed for the speedy recovery and good health of Captain Machchhar and conveyed his appreciation for the pilot’s courage during the incident.
Pattnaik also wished the Captain a quick recovery and expressed hope that he would soon return to good health.
Pattnaik, who has represented India in more than 65 international sand sculpture championships and festivals, has earned international recognition for his artistic excellence.
He has frequently used sand art as a medium to promote India’s cultural heritage and raise awareness about important social and environmental issues, including climate change, plastic pollution, public health and global peace.
Meanwhile, sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo also created a special sand animation at his studio in Puri to salute Captain Machchhar’s courage and bravery.
The artwork, which took around one hour to complete, highlights the Captain’s spirit of courage, determination and dedication.
Through the sand animation, Sahoo conveyed a message of respect and admiration for the pilot’s bravery with the slogan, “Salute to Captain Smit Machchhar’s Courage.”
