Arms recovered, drug seized in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 20 (UNI) Security forces and police recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, seized 2.3 kg of suspected amphetamine tablets and recovered two stolen vehicles in separate operations across Manipur, police said today.
In a joint operation conducted by Manipur Police and Assam Rifles today, a cache of weapons and other items were recovered from the Sajirok area under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district.
The recovered items included one CMG, five 9mm pistols, one PAG, eight single-barrel guns and one No. 36 HE hand grenade. The team also recovered 46 assorted live rounds, six TSMs and one Baofeng wireless handset. Further investigation into the recovery is underway.
In another operation yesterday, a combined team of Manipur Police, CRPF and Assam Rifles arrested two persons from Assam in connection with the seizure of suspected narcotics.
The arrested persons were identified as Rohim Ali of Dariduri and Anowar Hussiain Laskar of Baguan, both in Goalpara district.
The team seized 10 packets of WY tablets, identified as amphetamine, weighing approximately 2.3 kg, along with a vehicle bearing registration number AS01DT-7707 and Rs 5,000 in cash. Police subsequently arrested another alleged accomplice, Md Nawaz Khan of Mayai Leikai, Mayang Imphal, following further investigation into the case.
Meanwhile, police recovered two stolen vehicles in separate operations yesterday. A van bearing registration number MN01 AG 4153, linked to an FIR registered at Singjamei Police Station, was recovered from Langthabal, Imphal West. A scooter bearing registration number MN01 L-6162, connected with a case registered at City Police Station, was recovered from Sangaiyumpham Karanchi in Thoubal district.
Police said necessary legal and procedural formalities are being completed in connection with the recoveries and arrests.
