Decapitated body of unidentified woman found in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 30 (UNI) The decapitated body of an unidentified woman was found at a deserted riverbank in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Friday, triggering shock and panic in the area.
The body, believed to be that of a woman aged around 40-45, was spotted by traditional fishermen near the Maharkula embankment along the Luna River under Kudanagari police station limits early in the morning. The victim’s head had been severed from the torso. She was wearing bangles, while her body was found unclothed.
A pair of footwear was also recovered from the spot, said Kudanagari police station Inspector-in-Charge Jagannath Panigrahi.
Prima facie, it appears to be a murder case. Scientific and forensic teams, assisted by a dog squad, have been deployed to collect evidence and establish clues, as police are yet to identify the victim or ascertain the circumstances leading to the crime, he said.
The crime scene, located nearly 2 km from the nearest village, has no CCTV surveillance, posing a challenge to the investigation. However, police are making all efforts to crack the case, Panigrahi added.
