Bengal: Unidentified youth found dead near Durgapur railway yard, blood trail raises murder suspicion

Durgapur, Sep 27 (UNI) Panic gripped the Durgapur area on Sunday morning after the body of an unidentified young man was recovered from beneath a railway platform bridge near the local goods shed around 7 am.
The discovery has prompted a murder investigation after bloodstains were found leading from a nearby house towards the road, raising suspicion that the body may have been dragged to the spot.
Locals noticed the stains extending from inside the house to the road and towards the place where the body was found. “It appears from the marks on the ground that the body was dragged out of the house. But we have no idea who the deceased is or what exactly happened,” said resident Shambhu Das.
The house is located near the railway goods yard, where empty commercial trucks are often parked. According to local sources, several truck drivers stay at the property. Police are, however, yet to establish whether any of them is connected to the deceased or the incident.
After being alerted, personnel from the Coke Oven police station reached the spot, cordoned off the area and recovered the body. A forensic team is expected to examine the bloodstains and other evidence at the site.
Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate DCP (East) Raspreet Singh said the police were investigating the case from all possible angles. “The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and we are probing the case. Our immediate priority is to establish the identity of the deceased,” he said.
Police said the exact cause and circumstances of the death would be established after the post-mortem examination. Investigators are questioning local residents and truck drivers as part of the probe. UNI DC NST CDS
