Mizoram gears up for rail debut: CM reviews ILP system

Aizawl, June 2 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday chaired a crucial meeting focused on strengthening the state’s online Inner Line Permit (ILP) system and preparing for the deployment of Railway Police ahead of the commissioning of the Bairabi–Sairang railway line, expected by July.
The high-level meeting reviewed the recently updated ILP guidelines, discussed new provisions, and examined strategies to effectively implement Phase 2 of the online ILP platform. Particular attention was given to curbing the problem of non-tribals overstaying their ILP validity.
Another key agenda was the establishment of a Railway Police unit to manage security and law enforcement at the six proposed railway stations. It was highlighted that, as per standard practice, the state police will oversee security at these stations, and officers on duty will also be empowered to issue temporary ILPs to non-tribal travellers arriving by train.
