Patna HC seeks centre's response over typographical error in NCERT Class 1 Hindi textbook

Patna, Sept 16 (UNI) The Patna High Court has sought a response from the union Government on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging an alleged offensive typographical error in a Class 1 Hindi textbook published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
A division bench comprising Chief Justice V. Kameswar Rao and Justice Sudhir Singh issued the direction while hearing a petition filed by Somitra Shankar against the union Government and other respondents.
The PIL relates to the nursery rhyme “Chanda Mama Dur Ke”, published in the Class 1 Hindi textbook Sarangi (Part-01). The petitioner alleged that an objectionable and abusive word was printed in the second line of the poem instead of the intended word, altering its meaning and making the text inappropriate for young children.
