Congress promises monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 to women if voted to power in Bihar

Patna, May 21 (UNI) Congress on Wednesday promised to give monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 to women if the party, a constituent of the Grand Alliance, was voted to power in the next Bihar assembly elections slated for October-November this year.

Alka Lamba, National President of women wing of Congress, told media persons here that monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 under " Mai Bahin Yojana " would be given to women if her party, a constituent of Grand Alliance, was voted to power in next Bihar assembly elections scheduled to be held in October-November this year. This scheme was accepted as a common programme of the Grand Alliance for the next Bihar assembly elections, she added.

" A missed call number 8800023525 has been issued by Congress for registration of beneficiaries under the scheme ", Lamba said, adding that as per assessment, the population of women in Bihar was 5.36 crores. The monthly assistance scheme for women had also been launched in Congress-ruled states-- Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, she added.

Congress leader exhorted all party workers to propagate the scheme to be launched if the party was voted to power in the next Bihar assembly elections. All women should be encouraged to get themselves registered by dialling the missed call number issued by the party so that they can get its benefits, she stressed.
