Bihar sets example in expanding education, providing opportunities to youth: Choudhary

Nawada, Oct 13 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary on Tuesday said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government had undertaken extensive work over the past 20 years to expand education and provide opportunities to young people despite limited resources, setting an example for the country.
Addressing NDA election meetings in Nawada and Nalanda, Choudhary appealed to teachers and graduate voters to ensure the victory of NDA candidates Neeraj Kumar from the Patna Graduate Constituency and Nawal Kishore Yadav from the Patna Teachers’ Constituency by casting their first-preference votes on October 23.
He said Bihar’s achievements in the education sector had set an example for other states.
Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar said the state’s education system was in a deplorable condition before 2005, with little attention being paid to its improvement.
Under the leadership of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the education system had undergone significant changes, he said.
As a result, Bihar’s literacy rate had increased from 47.53 per cent to 79.70 per cent, Nishant Kumar claimed.
He also urged voters to support both NDA candidates with their first-preference votes.
Janata Dal (United) state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha said the election was a contest between the NDA’s development-oriented education model and the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s ‘Charwaha Vidyalaya’ model.
He said the NDA government had established several important institutions in higher education, technical education and skill development. These included degree colleges in every block, engineering and polytechnic institutions across districts, Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University, Nalanda Sports University, the National Law University and Chandragupt Institute of Management.
Kushwaha said the NDA government had worked to revive Nalanda’s historical glory, while the RJD’s Charwaha Vidyalaya model had symbolised giving children sticks instead of pens and computers.
He appealed to voters to support both candidates with their first-preference votes to accelerate Bihar’s development.
Rural Development Minister and JD(U) legislature party leader Shrawan Kumar described Neeraj Kumar and Nawal Kishore Yadav as capable and dedicated candidates who had consistently raised issues concerning teachers and young people.
He said they had taken up people’s grievances both on the streets and in the legislature.
Urging voters not to be swayed by what he termed misleading opposition propaganda, Shrawan Kumar called on them to trust the NDA’s commitment to development and good governance.
Their victory would strengthen the voice of issues related to education, employment and youth welfare, he said.
Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi, Minister Pramod Kumar Chandravanshi, Rashtriya Lok Morcha leader and Minister Deepak Prakash, MP Kaushalendra Kumar, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MP Arun Bharti, National General Secretary Engineer Sunil, former MP Arun Kumar, and several MLAs, MLCs and senior NDA leaders attended the meetings.
