Victory will be decided by public support, not rhetoric: JD(U)

Patna, Oct 21 (UNI) The Janata Dal (United) Wednesday expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win all eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council elections for graduate and teacher constituencies.
JD(U) state spokespersons Anupriya Yadav, Pooja Patrick and Chandan Kumar Singh told news persons here that the NDA was contesting all eight seats with confidence and organisational strength, with the objective of winning every seat. They said the election campaign should focus on issues concerning voters rather than personal attacks.
He asserted that electoral victories are determined by voters’ trust and public support rather than political rhetoric.
The party alleged that some people were attempting to grab headlines through intemperate remarks instead of engaging in meaningful discussions on electoral issues.
The spokespersons objected to personal remarks concerning the health of Neeraj Kumar, the NDA-backed JD(U) candidate from the Patna Graduate Constituency. They said making someone''s illness a subject of political ridicule was neither consistent with healthy political traditions nor in keeping with the dignity expected in public life.
While ideological differences were an integral part of democracy, political opposition should remain confined to differences over ideas and policies, they said. The spokespersons also wished Kumar a speedy and complete recovery.
The JD(U) spokespersons also criticised those making statements against the party, saying that creating controversies merely to gain media attention was inappropriate.
They said personal remarks made by individuals expelled from the party should not be linked to the organisation''s policies, ideology or commitments. Party discipline remained paramount, and statements made by those no longer associated with the organisation did not determine its political direction, they added.
The spokespersons said everyone had the right to express their views in public life, but this freedom also entailed a responsibility to maintain political decorum.
Those attempting to influence the electoral atmosphere through controversial statements should remember that the ultimate decision rested with voters, they said, adding that winning public support required working among people and understanding their problems rather than merely attracting media attention.
They identified the quality of higher education, respect for teachers, employment opportunities for educated youth and resolution of local issues as key concerns in the graduate and teacher constituency elections.
The NDA was contesting the elections with these issues as priorities, the spokespersons said, reiterating their resolve to win all eight seats.
They said the results would demonstrate that public trust and support mattered more in a democracy than political noise.
